We recently upgraded the railing system for a walk-out basement entrance in Toronto, replacing outdated iron railings with sleek, low-maintenance black aluminum. The project included new SR 0-1 style railings and a wall-mounted SR 100 handrail, offering both safety and a modern appearance for the basement entryway.

Our Process

• Old Railing Removal

We began by removing the existing iron railings, which had become rusted and unstable over time. Care was taken to preserve the concrete and wall surfaces during removal.

• Surface Cleaning & Prep

Once cleared, we cleaned and prepped the area around the walk-out to ensure proper anchoring of the new posts and wall-mounted components.

• Post & Railing 

Installation2x2 structural aluminum posts were installed at key points, and SR 0-1 style picket panels were securely mounted. These railings were aligned to meet safety standards and provide a clean, modern border for the basement entrance.

• Wall-Mounted Handrail Setup

We installed the SR 100 aluminum handrail directly onto the wall using heavy-duty brackets. This provides extra support and ease of access for anyone using the stairs.

• Final Touches & Cleanup

Once installed, we checked all connections for safety and stability, cleaned the site, and ensured everything was ready for immediate, everyday use.
